ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AND ENGINEERING

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AND ENGINEERING
      The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at West Virginia University invites applications for a tenure-track position, anticipated to start in August 2013, at the assistant professor level with expertise in construction management and engineering.
Candidates should have academic and research experience indicating the promise of an exceptional future in one or more of the following areas: construction management and engineering; construction methods, equipment, and contracting; sustainable construction techniques; green buildings; construction safety and health; surveying – construction integration and automation.
Further, the successful candidates must have the ability to: (1) teach undergraduate courses in construction engineering and management and graduate courses in their area of expertise, as well as other civil and environmental engineering courses such as capstone design; (2) develop and sustain an externally-funded research program; and (3) interact with a multi-disciplinary group of faculty.
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in construction management or construction engineering, or civil engineering with an emphasis on construction, at the time of appointment.  Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience, licensure, or qualifications to seek licensure in a timely fashion.
West Virginia University is the State’s comprehensive Land Grant University with an enrollment of nearly 30,000 students and a Carnegie Classification - High Research. The University is located within a rural College community and a growing high technology corridor that includes several nearby federal research facilities. The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources has seven academic departments, almost 4,000 students, over 130 faculty, and more than $30M in research expenditures annually. The Department offers BS, MS and PhD degrees and has 18 tenure-track faculty members and approximately $4.5M in annual research expenditures. Additionally, a joint BS degree in civil and mining is offered in collaboration with the Department of Mining Engineering. The CEE Department is recognized for high quality teaching, excellent research, and outstanding faculty and students. Dedicated staff and loyal alumni provide support for the academic mission of the department.
