In FY12, our investments reached an all-time high of more than $20 billion, leveraging the power of the private sector to create jobs, spark innovation, and tackle the world’s most pressing development challenges.

Trade finance is the engine of an estimated $14 trillion in annual global commerce and is fundamental to the movement of goods at all stages of the supply chain, especially in emerging markets. IFC’s Global Trade Supplier Finance (GTSF) program is a $500 million multicurrency investment and advisory program that provides short-term finance to emerging market suppliers and small- and medium-sized exporters with a particular focus on businesses serving the manufacturing and agribusiness sectors. GTSF is seeking an Associate Investment Officer or Investment Officer to contribute to play a significant role in business development, investment processing and portfolio monitoring.
Duties and Accountabilities:

• Play a significant role in the due diligence, processing and implementation of GTSF transactions and work as part of an extended industry team.

• Monitor operational and financial performance of clients and compliance (IFC and external), through client contact and market data.

• Manage business volume turnover from Buyers and their Suppliers under GTSF for utilization, documentation, and issue resolution; assist with product rollout to new Buyers and support rapid and effective implementation.

More specifically, the role will include:

• Promote and expand GTSF project opportunities across ‘real sector’ clients, industry segments and geography to establish and grow the GTSF business in emerging markets.

• Manage a portfolio of existing GTSF relationships to ensure compliance with internal development goals, credit risk management requirements and maximizing return from utilization of buyer approved limits.

• Contribute to GTSF business development in identifying client opportunities; work closely with Buyers and Supplier operations, finance and sales staff; ability to understand and demonstrate improvement in cash flow and key profitability drivers for Buyers and Suppliers.

• Help identify strategic partnerships to enhance the Supplier finance solution including recommending establishment of alliances or collaborative arrangements with third parties such as existing Banks programs and/or partners in the physical supply chain that maximize client value proposition and help strategic development of GTSF Program.

• Work with industry teams to prepare and manage approval of all Buyer credit proposals and/or reviews to ensure high portfolio quality, monitor Buyer exposure and market movements; track Buyer financial results and market news to identify and address deteriorating situations; structure transactions to ensure optimum utilization of lines balancing outstanding exposures with credit hurdle parameters. Support Buyer marketing teams with proposals and documenting credit proposals and regular review.
Selection Criteria:
• Master’s in Business Administration, Finance, International Affairs or similar degree

• Minimum 4 years experience in finance, preferably in an investment banking role dealing with the real sector (e.g. manufacturing, agribusiness) value chain
