Campaign Champion Activist RSPB United Kingdom
We have a vision...
...for a world that is richer in nature. Where the environment is at the heart of government decisions and sustainability is the norm not the exception. Where all children have the opportunity to play and learn outdoors and where wildlife is flourishing.
But nature is in big trouble. In the UK and around the world it is in a devastating decline, one which will leave our lives far poorer and may even threaten our very existance.
The RSPB is determined not to let that happen. Last year we launched a new campaign called Stepping Up for Nature which aims to ensure the UK government meets its commitment to halt this decline by 2020, and to inspire people to step up for the natural world.
Much more than a campaign, this vast movement of people has already taken more than 3 million steps for nature, showing that collectively we can make a huge difference. Together we can save nature.
Get Involved:
We simply cannot do this alone. We need enthusiastic, out-going, passionate people to help us inspire change by taking grassroots action in their local community and increasing awareness of our national and international campaigns. As a voter and consumer, your voice really counts with decision-makers.
You will have the opportunity to undertake a variety of campaign actions including:
Distributing campaign materials in your local area, collecting petition signatures, taking online actions, using social media to spread the word, writing letters to decision-makers, engaging with the local media, attending events, and meeting your MP face-to-face.
Interested but hesitating?
• You do not have to do everything you are asked – just those things you are comfortable with.
• The role is completely flexible, you can give as much time as you want, from a few hours a month or more
• You won’t be alone – we’ll give you the tools to campaign effectively and confidently, and you will also have the opportunity to meet other campaigners in your area.
• You’ll have the chance to attend a training event and meet fellow campaigners.
• You will get the satisfaction of playing a vital part in making a real difference to issues that affect our natural world, the extra knowledge you’ll acquire of these issues and the experience of campaigning with the largest environmental charity in Europe!
Requirements:
We're looking for active, friendly people with good communication skills who are passionate about the natural world. We will provide all the relevent background information to each campaign and are always on hand to answer any queries you may have.
Your time will make a huge difference to our campaign work. By being a voice for nature and lobbying decision-makers at all levels you will be helping us to achieve long-lasting and effective change, not just for birds but for all wildlife and the environment we share.
Our support for you:
As well as appropriate training, we will also invite you to Volunteer Thank You events, send you copies of our bi-annual volunteer newsletter, and of course give you ongoing support in your role.
