Director for the Area of Advocacy and Research CMDPDH Roma Sur, Mexico

The Mexican Commission for the Defense and Promotion of Human Rights (CMDPDH) is looking for a Director for the Area of Advocacy and Investigation.
The CMDPDH is a civil society organization recognized at both the national and international level for its contribution to the consolidation of a democratic state based on a culture of respect, protection and guarantee of human rights from an integral and multidisciplinary perspective that inspires structural changes.
Through the Area of Advocacy and Research, the CMDPDH looks to contribute to the strengthening of the national and international systems of protection of human rights in accordance with the highest international standards in the field through research, the production of information, and advocacy to key actors.
Responsibilities:
• In conjunction with other areas and the Executive Director, elaborate the national advocacy strategy of the CMDPDH
• With the Executive Director, influence and maintain dialogue with the different State powers to influence the realization of changes, both normative and public policy and structural, to improve the respect of human rights.
• With the Executive Director, assess new strategic alliances and spaces for works at a local level
• Coordinate and carry out investigative work that collects the experience of the CMDPDH and facilitates advocacy work.
• Implement political strategies to boost the objects of CMDPDH
• Maintain periodic meetings with our partners and networks.
• Generate inputs for research in different topics of work for CMDPDH
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations or related areas. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 3 areas of work experience in related areas
• Ability to work well with others
• Knowledge of human rights
• Ability to work with different political and social actors
• Availability for a full time position
• Willingness to travel frequently
• Spanish fluency is necessary. Dominance of English is considered a benefit.
