Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc (TEMA) is the alignment of Toyota's North American R&D and manufacturing operations, joining the operations, planning and technical functions.  Established in April 2006, TEMA strengthens Toyota's North American customer focus, through improved supplier cooperation, overall speed, flexibility and attention to quality.  TEMA headquarters in Erlanger, KY, house the Toyota Operations Center and the Toyota Planning Center.  The main offices for the Toyota Technical Center are in Ann Arbor and Saline, MI.  The Engine Cooling Development Engineer position is supporting the Vehicle Performance Development 2 (VPD2) Department located at our Ann Arbor, MI campus. 
 
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop vehicle performance to achieve engine cooling and parts thermal damage requirements.
  • Plan and conduct engine cooling testing, both in tunnel and on road.
  • Analyze technical test data and develop appropriate countermeasures.
  • Utilize CAD to check design and propose CM's to resolve concerns.
  • Support field issue investigation, benchmarking, and technical research projects as required.
  • Contribute to the development and creation of best practices, new tools, and test procedures/
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 
Job Qualifications:
  •  Education:  Minimum B.S. in engineering discipline; mechanical engineering preferred. 
  • Professional experience in a engineering environment required; 3 years of engine cooling development experience preferred.
  • Experience and proven capability in data analysis
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD Software - CATIA preferred
  • Genuine interest in automobiles and basic knowledge of automotive design.
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work to a timeline and target with minimum supervision
  • Willingness and ability to work in a culturally diverse team
  • Willingness and ability to travel, domestically and internationally, as required.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
