Senior Counsellor Advocacy CEFIC


Ceficthe European Chemical Industry Council, is both the forum and voice of the European chemical industry. It aims to maintain and develop a prosperous chemical industry in Europe by promoting the best possible economic, social and environmental conditions to bring benefits to society.
Cefic is located in Brussels and employs more than 150 people. Cefic represents the European chemical industry vis-à-vis the EU Institutions and involves its member federations and companies in European advocacy.
Cefic is actively looking for a (M/F):   Senior Counsellor Advocacy
Working in a small team, reporting to the Director of Advocacy, the Senior Counsellor will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to achieve advocacy objectives set by the Board, the Programme Councils, the Director General and/or the Sector Groups. He / she will:     
  • Contribute to the setting of objectives by Cefic Programme Councils
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Cefic advocacy network of companies, national federations and associate organisations in the implementation of advocacy strategies
  • Maintain and develop close working relations with officials of the European Commission, European Parliament, Member States Permanent Representations and national experts
  • Monitor developments, ensure alignment of positions, prepare advocacy materials, contribute to the issue management process and to the advocacy database
  • Contribute to the advocacy trainings, and
  • Design and execute advocacy events in cooperation with Cefic Communications
Background and experience
  • Master degree in political sciences, law, business administration, natural sciences or engineering
  • 5 years track record of successful experience in European Public Affairs, preferably in industry related topics ; or alternatively 5 years track record of successful experience in a Cefic member company or federation
  • Familiarity with EU legislative process
Skills & competencies
  • Fluent written and spoken English and good knowledge of at least one other European language
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Result oriented team player with pronounced customer focus
