Shell Canada is currently seeking a Technical / Process Safety Engineer, for our Fort McMurray, Alberta location.
Responsibilities:
  • HSE case development and maintenance. Support to Safety Critical Element identification and maintenance.
  • Support and guidance to development and change to site operating windows.
  • Review and support site Management of Change (MOC) proposals. Provide guidance and discipline in implementing plant changes. Provide HAZOP facilitation and guidance for site projects.
  • Ownership of the Safeguarding Manuals, Safeguarding Memorandums, Safeguarding Standards, Site Bowties, Site HAZOP process and reports.
  • Coordinate equipment inspections, condition monitoring, and performance improvement activities to optimize equipment availability, prevent loss of containment, minimize operational upsets/shutdowns and control costs.
  • Coordinate the activities related to the Hazard and Effect Management Process: Safety Integrity Level Assessment and Verification, Layer of Protection Analysis, Bow Ties, Hazops, Process Safety and Hazard Identification.
  • Active participation in the corporate strategies of Global Asset Management process (Game): IPF, Ensure Safe Production, Reliability based Maintenance, etc.
  • Assist with Recruitment, training and development of new technical staff related to safeguarding.
  • Revision and Comments on developments from the Debottlenecking projects.
  • Identify new projects and ideas to increase the Albian added value.
  • Safeguarding devices identification and Design specifications: Operating windows development, Constraints diagrams, real capacities for current and future operating conditions.
  • Follow-Up to the Operational Key Performance Indicators for the monthly report, correlations between feed and performance of equipments for intrinsically safe condition.
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance policies for Safety Critical Elements.
  • Technical Support to Operation/Maintenance and the support to the Issues related of Safeguarding: to be the first asked by them.


Requirements:
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work in a flexible team environment.
  • Strong computer skills and a familiarity with common business software: simulation tools, statistical tools, etc.
  • High interrelations with our clients (operations, maintenance, planning, mine and CRC departments).
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical,Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 to 10 years Oil Sands or related industry experience.
