Description: The Department of Advanced Specialty Health Studies invites applications for a tenure track position which will commence August 15, 2013, subject to final budgetary approval at the rank of Assistant Professor. Priority will be given to entry level candidates.

Duties: The Department currently offers 4 distance certificate programs and a degree program in Midwifery. The successful applicant will be able to teach all levels of theory and clinical courses in the Midwifery program. The successful applicant must be prepared to engage in the midwifery community in Alberta and be involved in course and program revisions.

New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure.

Qualifications: A Ph. D. in Midwifery or related field is preferred; a Master’s degree is required. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years Midwifery experience. The successful candidate must be eligible for and maintain registration with the Alberta Association of Midwives. Applicants interested in the teaching/scholarship/service pattern should have the ability and intent to pursue a research program.
