The Organisation
BG Group is a founding member of Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B. V. (KPO) which oversees the development of the giant Karachaganak oil and gas condensate field in the northwest of Kazakhstan. Karachaganak covers an area of more than 280 square kilometres with estimated gross reserves of over 2.4 billion barrels of condensate and 16 trillion cubic feet of gas. The Karachaganak field is one of the biggest internationally-funded and most technologically challenging projects in Kazakhstan. 
Position Summary
  • Assist PDD in determining overall contracting and procurement strategies, including recommending individual contract strategies which fulfil business requirements;
  • Alignment of contracting strategies with Company’s tender procedures, C&P policies, KPO local content development requirements and PDD’s and Parent Companies’ objectives;
  • Effective and efficient management of all aspects relevant to the contracts planning, supervision, co-ordination and administration of C&P activities associated with PDD. 
Key Accountabilities
  • Design, implement and deliver effective contracting strategies associated with the Future Growth Project activities;
  • Ensure appropriate engagement and alignment of external stakeholders including Parent Companies, TGA and JPC;
  • Maintain the full engagement and alignment of C&P and other internal stakeholders;
  • Draft strategic procurement contracting strategies in accordance with JPC tender procedures, taking lead in the preparation of strategy papers for PDD and JPC;
  • Work collaboratively with the C&P team and Parent Companies to develop contracting strategies and ensure that the contracting strategies enable delivery of business requirements;
  • Deliver solutions and recommendations for effective and efficient management of PDD C&P activities;
  • Facilitate workshops and other collaborative methods to achieve alignment in the contracting strategies amongst all stakeholders;
  • Coordinate planning and prioritizing of PDD C&P workload;
  • Ensure that a direct line of communication with all Parent Company groups is available;
  • Assist, mentor and coach Contracts Coordinator in managing the tendering, commercial evaluation, negotiation and award processes as well as any post-award contract administration issues;
  • Ensure the right culture, skills knowledge and experience are in place to deliver Contract Execution plans;
  • Coordinate tender process in accordance with the contracts plan.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
  • Higher education (University degree or higher) in the relevant speciality and extensive experience in similar roles. Qualification is essential to obtain Work Permit in Kazakhstan
  • Supervisory work experience in developing contracting strategies in the Oil&Gas industry.
Specialist Knowledge/Skills/Languages:
  • Contracting and Procurement processes for upstream business categories including concept engineering, FEED, detailed engineering, O&M, general projects;
  • Knowledge of appropriate RoK and international regulations
  • Development of Contracting and Procurement strategies with major E&P companies;
  • Change management;
  • Facilitation skills;
  • Proven commercial and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal/written) in English;
  • Problem solving where there is a limited guidance.
