Electrician (Underground)

Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. This open pit and underground operation employs more than 700 people (including contractors) and produces approximately 300,000 oz of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster or variant thereof, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

We are now seeking an experienced Electrician to join our Underground Maintenance Projects team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. This role is based on an 8/6 or variant thereof FIFO roster from Perth.

Accountable to the Infrastructure Superintendent, this role is responsible for maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with U/G and associated surface electrical systems.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

• Carrying out repairs, maintenance and installation activities on infrastructure such as, motors, transformers, substations, starter panels, distribution boards, RMU's, ventilation fans, dewatering systems, instrumentation, communications, lighting, and other electrical systems
• Operation of a variety of electrical testing equipment in locating and determining electrical malfunctions
• Studying plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and or installations

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Trade qualification with at least 2 years' experience
• Experience in U/G gold mine electrical  maintenance
• Knowledge of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act, Regulations and relevant Australian Standards.
• WA A Class Driver's license
• AC Drive experience
• Electrical panels and wiring, HV Switching and Diagnostic Skills
• PLC  / SCADA
• Australian Permanent work rights
