Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. This open pit and underground operation employs more than 700 people (including contractors) and produces approximately 300,000 oz of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

We are now seeking 2 experienced Underground Mechanical Fitters to join our Underground Maintenance Projects team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. This role is based on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.

Accountable to the Infrastructure Superintendent, these roles are responsible for maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with U/G and associated surface mechanical systems.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

• Repairing, maintenance and installation activities on infrastructure such as, pumps and associated dewatering infrastructure, primary axial ventilation fans, ladder ways, vehicle wash-down bays, monorails and associated lifting devices
• Welding, painting, greasing and fitting infrastructure
• Carrying out installation of new equipment
• Studying plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and or installations

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Qualified Mechanical trade, preferably as a Fitter and Machinist
• Experience in the maintenance of infrastructure in an underground goldmine
• Knowledge of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act, Regulations and relevant Australian Standards
• Maintenance, construction and modification experience
• Experience working as a member of a Multi-skilled Workforce
• A ‘hands on' approach and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels
• WA A Class Driver's License
• The ability to work Permanently in Australia
