About Sparx
Sparx is revolutionising the way students learn and teachers teach. We’re developing an extraordinary new technology for the classroom that is redefining the limits of what young people can achieve.
Imagine a classroom in which every student receives an individualised learning experience. Imagine a classroom in which a teacher has detailed insight into each child’s strengths and struggles. That classroom is one using Sparx.
We’re looking for people with a deep passion for education and a belief in the power of technology to improve it. Things move fast at Sparx so we need people who assume excellence is a given and who are ambitious, creative and inspiring. People who want a challenge; people who want to make a difference.
Job description
As a product director at Sparx, you’ll lead the development of our radical technology in to new subject areas and have the opportunity to shape the future of learning for young people. We’ve seen how Sparx can transform Maths, but the ambition doesn’t stop there.
You’ll be responsible for totally re-imagining how people learn your subject, and – using your leadership, subject expertise, and ability to bring together the diverse, but brilliant brains at Sparx – develop that vision and bring it to life. You’ll be working with creatives, technologists, engineers, data scientists and whoever else you need to, to constantly create and re-create the Sparx system, to deliver the most effective, efficient and inspiring learning experience possible.
The product director role is a dream job for anyone who wants to make their mark. The product is in your hands and we are excited to be inviting you to shape this in to something incredible.
About you
You’ve probably already been called a high achiever and inspiring leader. You enjoy leadership but haven’t yet found the right environment to fully show your mettle and potential. You’ll be strong and trail-blazing, and know how to coordinate and bring together a diverse team of people from a range of backgrounds to deliver something truly outstanding.
You might not be a technical whizz, but you’ll be an expert on – and probably a little bit obsessed with – your subject and the learning process. You’ve been thinking about education and the way people learn your subject. It needs a revolution, and you know it.
Data is at the heart of Sparx, so you won’t be scared by numbers and you’ll be driven by a desire to find out how things work and get to the bottom of a problem. Thinking outside the box comes as a given. Managing complex projects and those around you? Not a problem.
With you, things are always under control and incredible stuff just gets done.
Our team
We work hard, and we play hard. You’ll be able to see Dartmoor from your office window, and get to the beach in 20 minutes.
Our generous benefits include substantial holiday leave and the chance to join our share scheme and company pension once you’ve completed your probationary period. We also have a range of on-site facilities for all employees to use free of charge. There’s a netball court and a five-a-side football pitch just outside, an on-site gym with classes throughout the day, a running track and pool table, a 2012 Olympic table tennis table and a café serving free, delicious and organic food. On top of this, we’re constantly organising events and activities to support our charities, and to socialise.
We trust our team and want them to work in the way that suits them best; whether that’s flexible hours, working from home or creating brilliance having just come back from a lunchtime run.
