Role
The 12 months will involve working as part of a technical team, embedded alongside journalists and designers in a busy newsroom. You will be working directly on the output of one of the world’s most successful news websites. The work will involve fast turn-around short-term projects and tasks in a dynamic production environment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work as instructed helping to carry out tasks and short-term projects for the BBC News website.
* Document all work carried out.

Required attributes:
• Be undertaking a degree in Media Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline. This is a sandwich year placement role, which is designed for undergraduates returning to university.
• On target to get a minimum of 2:1 degree.
• A passion for front-end engineering and web development.
• Essential: Knowledge and experience of client-side technologies, namely HTML, CSS, JavaScript (including jQuery).
• An advantage: Knowledge of other JavaScript libraries (i.e. Raphael, D3, HighCharts), PHP (including frameworks like Zend, Cake or Codeigniter), Ruby, Perl and other programming languages.
• An advantage: Experience of using version control (SVN, Github), working with agile project management methodologies.
• An interest in web-design and current affairs.
