Job Summary


Australia is providing support to the Papua New Guinea law and justice sector through the PNG-Australia Law and Justice Partnership (PALJP). That assistance is an important element in the shared goals of the Government of Australia (GoA) and the Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG), as expressed in the ‘Partnership for Development’ and its ‘Law and Justice Schedule’. PALJP provides flexible and responsive support that assists GoPNG to achieve measurable progress against its policies for law and justice reform, better access to justice and improved service delivery to the people of Papua New Guinea. The Partnership commenced in April 2009 and is due to operate until April 2014, with a total budget of AUD150M.
 
The individual or team implementing this project will conduct a participatory review of existing training materials and will develop training resources and supporting materials. ​

Key Responsibilities


The ideal candidate should have:
 
Essential
  • Excellent experience in the design and development of industry packages, industry standards and accredited competency based training materials for organisation training and delivery by Cert IV trainers, in collaboration with agency personnel
  • Demonstrated understanding of family and sexual violence impacts in a Melanesian context
  • Demonstrated capacity to train trainers in the application of training materials
  • Excellent experience in delivering training and adult learning with individuals whose first language is not English and in a Melanesian or equivalent developing country context
  • An understanding of gender inequalities, HIV&AIDS and fraud and corruption issues and a preparedness to mainstream these into development activities
Desirable
  • Understanding of the context of working within a police agency, to provide a high level of service within limited resources
  • Ability to collaborate and cooperate with other partners and stakeholders, including the PNG-Australia Policing Partnership in this context
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field, e.g. Adult learning or gender based violence
  • Knowledge of the Tertiary education, adult learning and training environment in PNG
