Commercial Operations Lead - Gilead | Spain


Essential Duties and Job Functions:
  • Oversees strategic planning, department development, workflow modifications, and updating operations guidelines and policies.
  • Develops policies and procedures for the department and is responsible for the implementation of any changes.
  • Manages post-conference reconciliations and preparation of periodic and ad hoc reports to advise internal customers in making business decisions.
  • Oversees efforts to negotiate new contracts for major vendors.
  • Accountable for internal policies and SOPs related to Commercial Services.
  • Oversees efforts to develop and execute training for Commercial Services team members.
  • Oversees the implementation of relevant software systems or modules related to event planning and management, with an effort to automate processes where possible.
  • Develops and implements cross-training and knowledge sharing programs within internal group and across other departments.
  • Provides coaching and knowledge sharing to Commercial Services team for development of management and technical skills.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems, which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:    
  • 12+ years of related experience and a BS or BA degree in marketing or equivalent.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or equivalent certification is required.
  • Successful people management experience is required.
  • Specific event management experience with high-profile meetings, events and exhibits is required.
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry required.

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, to lead change, and to lead and mentor others are required.
  • Must have a strong executive presence with ability to command respect through exercise of sound business judgment and clear decision-making.
  • Excellent management skills to be able to conduct training, performance management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, recruitment and selection, meeting management and plan execution are a must.
  • Excellent communication skills with a well developed ability to efficiently and productively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities including budgeting and actual spend against budget is required.
