The Congressional Research Service (CRS) seeks a Research Manager for the Government Finance and Taxation Section of the Government and Finance Division. The Research Manager leads the section in the development and execution of research and policy analysis relevant to congressional needs in the areas of U.S. tax and finance policy. The policy topics covered by the section include federal taxation, budget and spending policy, federal debt, and the impact of federal policies on state and local government finances.
As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, CRS works exclusively for the United States Congress, providing analysis to committees and Members of both the House and Senate, regardless of party affiliation. CRS is well known for analysis that is authoritative, confidential, objective and nonpartisan. CRS services come in many forms: reports on major policy issues; tailored confidential memoranda, briefings and consultations; seminars and workshops; expert congressional testimony; and responses to individual inquiries.
Candidates with research and research management experience, who have strong interpersonal skills, and are capable of leading a highly motivated and talented research staff committed to providing Congress the highest level of nonpartisan, authoritative, objective policy analysis are encouraged to apply.
