Position Description
The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations seeks applications for a Senior Preceptor in Arabic, expected to begin July 1, 2013. The appointment is for a five-year term, renewable contingent upon performance, enrollments, and curricular need. The Senior Preceptor will teach Arabic language at all levels, in addition to coordinating language courses and the training and supervision of teaching fellows and teaching assistants.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates should have professional expertise in teaching language at all levels, as well as familiarity with theories of second language acquisition/applied linguistics and experience using technology in the second language classroom.
Additional Qualifications
Experience in post-secondary teaching, including curriculum design, supervision of teaching assistants, undergraduate advising and experience with study abroad programs is desirable. Minimum degree requirement is a master’s degree in appropriate field. Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English is required.
