World Vision (WV) is a Christian humanitarian organisation dedicated to improving the lives and futures of the world’s most vulnerable children.
World Vision (WV) is one of the largest international non-governmental organisations in the world and currently implements multi-sectoral food security programmes in 22 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. WV is currently developing a grant application for a multi-year USDA Food for Education (FFE) Programme in Nicaragua. The potential funding for such grants is $10-15 million over three to five years. As such, WV is soliciting applications for experienced candidates to serve as Chief of Party (COP) for this programme.
 
The Chief of Party has overall responsibility for managing programme activity planning and implementation, programme personnel and sub-grantee(s) and sub-contractor(s) in-country, monitoring & evaluation (M&E) efforts, commodities (including monetisation and direct distribution logistics), and finance. S/he is also responsible for ensuring the security, feasibility, and sustainability of the programme under his/her supervision. The COP heads a management structure that represents the programme to local USDA and other in-country Cooperating Sponsors, international and national programme/consortium partners, and the Government of Nicaragua and its relevant line ministries, UN Agencies, and other stakeholders.
 
With a proven track record in a fast paced, complex and ideally global organisation, you will have a desire, motivated by your Christian faith, to help others and model ethics in line with the Christian foundations and ethos of the organisation.
 
SOME RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 
  • Direct and oversee the programme implementation
  • Manage programme budget
  • Identify and promote clear communication on issues of budget management and programmatic activities, compliance and documentation
  • Establish and maintain effective project communication systems and knowledge management including reporting, assessment and evaluation
  • Coordinate with other WV and/or USG funded in-country programmes and partners to ensure enhanced integration and synergies
REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
  • Master’s degree in Agriculture, Education, Health, Nutrition, Business, or another field directly related to the programme summary above
  • Minimum of 7 years of overseas international management experience, preferably in administering USDA and/or USAID programmes with at least 3 years of experience overseeing USG food aid programmes (Title II or USDA)
  • Proven ability to manage technical assistance teams and sub-grants   
  • Preferred: Ideal candidates would have an additional expertise (3 years or more) in one or more of the following areas: Nicaragua food security and/or food for education programming, grants/compliance, food commodities/logistics, disaster risk management, and/or gender
