Senior Civil Technologist

We have an immediate opening for a motivated and enthusiastic intermediate- to senior-level Civil Engineering Technologist to join our growing Edmonton team. The incumbent will be an intermediate to advanced user of Civil 3D and AutoCAD, with working knowledge of Microstation, Inroads, and other technical software, and will utilize his/her experience on a variety of innovative and diverse engineering projects including roads, bridges, rail, municipal services and site development.

Required Skills

• Contribute to the cost effective, proper and timely production of engineering designs and drawings that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards
• Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed
• Coordinate the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates and tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved
• Provide construction supervision and/or administration for transportation and municipal projects
• May supervise and/or provide training and mentorship to CAD operators and junior technical staff

Required Experience

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
• 5-10 years’ experience in a designer role
• Registration in good standing as a Technician/Technologist designation (or eligibility for registration) as a CET with ASET
• Proficiency in Civil 3D Software is essential; knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and/or other CAD software is also an asset
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work independently and also within a busy and high-performing team
• Experience training/supervising junior technical staff is an asset
