Human Rights and Social Development Risk Specialist

Within complex social, political and economic contexts – risks to human rights, livelihoods and sustainable development are constantly evolving. We are seeking experienced human rights and social development specialists with knowledge of, and experience in, traditional compliance human rights risk, as well as strategic societal and development risk. In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability to interpret the dynamics of human rights and societal development risks relative to the impact of such risks on business investment decisions by multinationals across a diverse portfolio of industry sectors.
Maplecroft is a leading source of human rights and societal risk intelligence for business, government and the non-profit sectors. The successful candidates will assume a position of responsibility across a spectrum of projects, including contributions on: Labour Standards Reports, Country Risk Reports, Human Rights and Societal Development Landscape Assessments, and tailored in-depth reports and consultancy projects for some of the world's leading companies, Foundations and UN organisations and NGOs.
Excellent project planning, research and analytic skills are required. Strong interpersonal communications skills are essential, along with advanced IT skills and demonstrable proficiency in the full Microsoft Office suite. Candidates should also have strong quantitative analytical skills and superior writing, editing and presentation skills.
Applicants should have a Masters degree or PhD in a relevant subject and at least 3-5 years' relevant practical experience. This experience will be in business risk management consulting - with a focus on: human rights risk, human capital development, sustainable socio-economic development and/or poverty and social inclusion.
The position will require project management skills and an ability to manage time effectively and work under time pressure. Applicants should be innovative and creative and comfortable working in an interdisciplinary, multi-cultural team with formal peer review.
