Manager, Public Policy, EMEA

Facebook is seeking an experienced public policy expert to help us develop and articulate our positions on important policy debates across Europe, Middle East and and Africa. This person will join a growing team of in-house professionals who are responsible for representing the company with policy makers, NGOs and regulators across the region. This is a permanent position and is based in our Brussels office.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining coherent, evidence-based positions on a wide range of internet policy issues, for example IP, security, libel, freedom of expression, Internet governance, net neutrality. In some cases, this will involve updating established policy positions in light of internal or external developments. In others, it will mean the development of new positions for the company relevant to our business needs
  • Articulating our policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses and internal policy meetings
  • Liaising on behalf of the EMEA policy team with global policy development colleagues in Washington DC
  • Working closely with other experts in EMEA including in Data Protection and Public Policy, Policy Communications and Policy Management
  • Developing, and making good use of, a network of relevant policy contacts outside the company – including government officials and regulators
  • Supporting the in-country policy teams which advice on how the issues they are facing are being addressed elsewhere and on how best to articulate our position
  • Developing and maintaining evidence and collateral for deployment on key issues

Requirements

  • Proven successful track record of experience in a policy role in, or related to, the communications/internet industry including in government, industry, an NGO or a regulator
  • Degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject or discipline
  • Passion for Facebook and its mission to make the world more open and connected
  • Excellent writing, research and communication skills
  • A valid EU work authorization
