GSMA – mSchools These are difficult times for education and youth. Whilst Spain has one of Europe’s highest drop out rates, unemployment rates are at the historic highest with a staggering 56% in Spain and future challenges in the Knowledge Economy will be difficult to meet with the current low attainment rates shown by the Education System. Nonetheless, we at GSMA believe that mobile technologies will play a central role in changing the way children learn and the lives of many youngsters by empowering them with the key skills that will allow them to grow into good citizens. Spain is leading the European Union in smartphone adoption and a new industry, mEducation is booming boosted by the demand of the digital native generation that has taken over the classrooms. Students require a new set of contents and a totally new way of course delivery in which mobile technology plays a central role, a role that has also been recognised by public authorities. Governments are now supporting mEducation initiatives worldwide and this is challenging the way teachers and students engage.. Mobile World Capital Barcelona in partnership with GSMA and Generalitat has recently launched the mSchools Initiative, a set of projects that designed with local and international partners will be addressing, over a five years plan, many of the challenges Catalan schools are facing with views of identifying best practices and actions that could be rolled out not only in Spain but across the globe. In order to make mSchools a successful programme, GSMA is recruiting a Project Manager to establish the governance structures and internal processes. GSMA – The Role The mSchools coordinator is to ensure the successful roll out of all initiatives encompassed in the mSchools programme by: • Providing project related content and technical assistance to all stakeholders • Support the mSchools initiative project manager: o Tracking of project milestones o Preparation of project presentations o Administration and office management tasks o Gather data for the strategy and measurement plan o Financial reporting o Elaboration of meeting minutes and follow-up documentation for all parties involved o Performance reporting • Assisting in communication related activities • Following up open procurement processes • Liase with legal department for the successful completion of contracts • Be actively involved in the design of all internal processes leading to the definition of a project management structure for the mSchools programme including: • Basic CRM management and policies • Definition of Communication and Approval processes both internal and external • Seek and consolidate key stakeholder inputs to evaluate progress • Financial reporting to Senior Management • Develop short and midterm programme and project budgets • Project progress reports 

Criteria 
The ideal candidate has background on project management with on the ground experience in multilateral programmes involving public and private institutions, national and international. Being mSchools a mEducation programme, some knowledge of the Catalan Education school system and initiatives in this area will be considered an added advantage. The candidate should be able to build a strong reputation with the different stakeholders in the programme’s steering committee and industry members involved requiring strong verbal and written communication skills. The mSchools programme has just been started and requires a self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit who is able to design and implement project management structures and processes that scale with the programme for the next 5 years.
