Monitoring Analyst

This role will be key in helping us to monitor the UK’s retail energy market and identify and evaluate the impact of Ofgem’s initiatives in promoting the best interests of energy consumers. Our recent Retail Market Review will lead to a number of considerable reforms in how the energy market operates and your analysis of this change and its benefits to consumers will inform ongoing policy and regulatory reforms. This will involve the collation of evidence and data from a range of sources, undertaking thorough analysis and producing reports to inform subsequent policy decisions. You will ensure effective communication and sharing of data, evidence and analysis across our organisation to ensure we continue to monitor the energy market closely and arrive at well-informed conclusions and recommendations for the UK energy retail market.
Essential skills:
  • Good analytical and quantitative skills, with practical experience in data (numerical/statistical) analysis and strong attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate effectively to a range of internal and external audiences, both verbally and in writing, and to communicate complex issues to a range of audiences
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and to contribute proactively to supporting a sustainable, high-performing team environment
Desirable:
  • Some understanding of the operation of electricity/gas and/or financial markets, and the ability to build and maintain a detailed knowledge of particular areas of relevance to your work
