An opportunity has arisen to join the Amnesty International media team as the Americas Press Officer, shaping the human rights media strategy for the region and leading on its delivery in the Americas around the world.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This post takes strategic ownership of Amnesty International’s media profile across the Americas,driving awareness of human rights as well as bolstering support for Amnesty International and shaping a better future for those in need.
It’s all about managing media coverage to promote campaigning objectives – providing accurate and appropriate communications that help to develop the human rights agenda and raise awareness of Amnesty International’s work in this highly complex region.
ABOUT YOU
You are committed to Amnesty International's aims and are experienced in the media industry. You have a strong news sense and know how to place a story to achieve maximum impact, providing prompt and impactful media response to world events.
With a background in journalism or public relations in an international setting, you have a detailed knowledge of the Americas, an outstanding sense of news, a passion for human rights and a strong network of media contacts across the region. You communicate fluently in English and Spanish - verbally and in writing - and deliver sharp news copy in a timely fashion. You have experience in developing communications strategies, of working with media across the Americas and of running successful events.
