Salary: £39,270 per annum
Islamic Relief Worldwide is looking to recruit a Policy Manager for its Programme Partnership Arrangement (PPA) with DFID. The Policy Manager who will be based in Birmingham, UK, and will coordinate and guide the research and policy implementation work being undertaken by the Policy Advisers on gender justice, conflict transformation, , child protection and the environment during the extension phase (2014 – 16) of the PPA. S/he will help to shape the organisation’s thinking and support the development of policy documents that contribute to national, regional and global debates, dialogues and policy influence.
The Programme Partnership Arrangement (PPA) – Policy Manager will continuously analyse the work of the Policy Advisers and if required adapting work to risks and opportunities posed by both internal and external changing circumstances. S/he will support the DFID PPA Partnership Coordinator in the preparation of Annual Review Reports, financial reporting to PPA Project Board and commissioning of external evaluations of the PPA. You will provide policy development support and help produce policy documents (reports, briefings, articles) to contribute to global, national and regional advocacy, debates and dialogue.
The successful candidate should have a Post-graduate academic/ professional qualification in a relevant discipline related to international development and poverty reduction. Very substantial work experience may replace academic degrees. The successful candidate will experience and understanding of developing high level policy frameworks and you will have experience of conducting and managing research. The candidate will have an understanding and knowledge in at least one of the policy thematic areas – gender, child protection, conflict and climate change. The successful candidate will have good oral and written presentation skills in English, IT and excellent analytical skills.
