Full-time, Fixed term for two years
This is a fixed term two-year post integral to supporting the new Sino-UK Collaborative Programme, LLB Commercial Law, delivered by Coventry Law School in conjunction with SWUPL (South West University of Political Science and Law).
You will provide academic content and cultural support to students enrolled on this joint programme, by delivering high quality English Language classes and to prepare those students in their later progression to Coventry Law School and the Faculty of Business, Environment and Society.
Based primarily in Chongqing, you will also be expected to contribute to in-country short academic teaching and student skills sessions, as well as any pre-sessional English courses to identified Coventry bound students, working closely in conjunction with the Faculty’s Chinese academic partners. In addition you will also contribute towards the Faculty’s Applied Research Agenda.
You will be responsible for development, preparation and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment, initially at undergraduate level, including module leadership where appropriate. Ensuring your teaching is informed by contemporary research in the relevant field, you will develop the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse and rational thinking.
With a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics/TEFL, you should have some knowledge of the Chinese Higher Education system and some teaching experience at higher education level with evidence of successful student learning outcomes. Evidence of contribution to the wider student experience would be advantageous.
You should be willing to undertake academic activities in the evening, when necessary and participate in occasional weekend activities such as recruitment days. Experience of living or working abroad and competence in more than one language would be advantageous.
