Background Information:

Over the course of the past two years, Fundacja TechSoup (FTS) has emerged as a European hub, a non-profit technology enabler, and an innovative community organizer for social activists and CSOs. FTS has developed and tested its agile approach to community work, successfully reiterated some of its activities, developed new solutions, as well as built upon previous successes and relationships.
Lasting social change takes time and a long-term commitment to seed, particularly in countries and regions that are struggling to define their social, economic and political systems. Trust is an essential component of working successfully at the local and community levels. Our approach has been to partner and join forces with local actors to create programmes and activities (for example, Netsquared, Community Boost_r in the Western Balkans, and Things in Turkey, Apps4Warsaw) to deepen our outreach and expand the FTS network based on personal relationships and trust. Identifying and working together with established experts, specialists, and civil society organizations is not an easy task – it requires patience to establish trust-based relationships and to develop a shared understanding of needs and goals.
The next phase of programming has been designed to build upon previous work to engage a broader range of social activists and technologists in order to successfully leverage technology for social change. FTS aims to create more opportunities for interaction with programmers, to engage new civil society constituencies in Europe. Staying true to the TechSoup Global mission, FTS will create and curate relevant content, training, and resources to help CSOs and social activists use information and digital technologies effectively to amplify their work.
