Our Sydney offices provide services in Civil, Urban, Transport, Bridge and Environmental Engineering, Planning and Design.

We are seeking a Senior Environmental/Transport Economist (6 - 10 years' experience) with past experience in evaluation of infrastructure development proposals and feasibility assessments.
This position will involve applying your economic skills across a diverse range of industries, project types and problem solving scenarios. The position will be full time based in Cardno's Sydney office and will assist the Economics, Transport and Environment teams within NSW and internationally.


 Key Responsibilities
  • Project and client management for the delivery of economic appraisals and assessments
  • Problem solving and lateral thinking to provide investment and assurance solutions to clients
  • Undertaking of qualitative appraisal, feasibility assessments and quantitative cost benefit analysis in accordance with state / national guidelines and international best practice
  • Production of business cases to facilitate project approvals and receipt of funding
  • Ensuring Company and client commitments and expectations are managed appropriately within given time frames and budget
  • Identifying business development opportunities and co-ordinating proposal delivery
  • Supervision and management of junior personnel

Qualifications/other requirements

 
  • Degrees (or combined degree) in Economics and Science / Engineering
  • 6 - 10 years of combined consulting and/or industry experience in economic or infrastructure development
  • Demonstrated application of Cost Benefit Analysis to infrastructure development projects; experience within the Transport, Oil and Gas, Water, or Primary Industry sectors seen as an asset
  • Technical knowledge and experience in an environmental science or engineering discipline seen as an asset
  • Excellent technical writing, oral communication, computer skills, and lateral thinking.
  • Experience of bidding for and winning projects is highly advantageous.
  • Project management experience, in particular management of time work-plans and budgets.
  • Ability to work in a team environment across a multi-site organization
  • Ability to travel, nationally, and internationally as needed
