At EurActiv we develop and maintain a wide range of websites. As an Online Media, our core CMS is built using Drupal, which enables our editorial team to publish valuable and qualitative content efficiently. We invest in the future of our online portfolio of websites (EurActiv.com, Jobsite, Blogactiv.eu and Press Release Service) by recruiting a

Drupal and LAMP Developer

to work on projects related to further product development on our core CMS (Drupal) and related websites, integration and migration of databases, re-design and enhancements to the back and front end of our websites. The role will include the customizing and modifying of several core and community Drupal modules.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing back and front end functionalities and sections of our websites using Drupal, PHP, MySQL and Debian.
  • Making improvements and bug-fixes to existing websites using PHP and Drupal.
  • Developing the social networking features and integrating in-house software systems.
  • Assisting in the support of other in-house products and sites.
  • Working with other members of the team to improve existing processes and procedures.
  • Working within the team's Quality Assurance and Testing framework.

Requirements:

  • Excellent XHTML, HTML, CSS, PHP, Drupal 6.x, Javascript, AJAX skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the LAMP development environment.
  • Good Linux system administration and networking skills.
  • A solid understanding of the web design principles.
  • Understanding of SEO and knowledge of related concepts, such as pageviews, hits and PPC.
  • Team player, quick learner, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability and willingness to continually search for new ideas and development methods.

An ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate his skills via a proven track record in the Drupal community or through other open source projects.
