Director-General EECA/ESIA - European Semiconductor Industry Association

Interested in being part of the exciting world of the globally operating semiconductor industry? Do you have the qualifications and the motivation to be ESIA’s new Director-General?

We are looking for suitable candidates willing to take a proactive role in expanding and co-ordinating the activities of the European semiconductor industry representation and leading the Brussels office in line with ESIA’s Mission statement. This includes contributing to the formulation and pursuit of policy for the industry at EU (http://www.eeca.eu/esia/), as well as global (www.semiconductorcouncil.org) and national level. It also includes the activities linked to ESIA’s legal identity under the EECA umbrella (www.eeca.eu)

The candidate should have:

  • excellent issue & budget management, organisational and communication skills;
  • a proven knowledge and experience of EU affairs of at least 6 years;
  • a thorough knowledge of EU policy-making;
  • a proven network with EU institutions, national governments, stakeholders; and
  • the personality to go with the position.

The ideal candidate should preferably also have:

  • knowledge and some experience of the semiconductor industry or a related industry;
  • proven association and team management experience;
  • an active interest in the semiconductor industry;
  • fluency in written and spoken English & preferably in two further European languages;
  • a global outlook; and
  • at least 10 years relevant working experience.

ESIA’s Mission is to represent, promote and defend the vital interests of the European-based semiconductor industry and ensure its competitiveness in the global market. The semiconductor industry provides the key enabling technologies at the forefront of the development of the Information Society. This sector supports over 110,000 direct jobs and up to 500,000 induced jobs in Europe, operating in a worldwide market valued at $298bn (Europe $38bn) in 2010. With membership covering companies, national sector associations and research institutes, ESIA is the voice of the semiconductor industry in Europe.

ESIA offers a competitive Belgian package for a preferably Brussels-based professional with a willingness to travel within and outside Europe.
