FOOD SECURITY COORDINATOR

ACF is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for ACF in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.

ACF-Spain seeks to expand its team of food security coordinators for current and future vacancies in those geographical regions which are competence of ACF.

TASKS

  • Coordination and technical quality of the Food Security projects of the mission.
  • To analyze the national and regional strategies and context in Food Security and Rural Development.
  • To provide technical support Food Security team of each base.
  • To provide technical support to the Head of Mission in the fundraising and partnership activities related to the food security area.
  • To be active in the provincial and national coordination of food security activities.
  • To provide technical support to the Head of Mission (HoM) in the activities related to the technical areas and monitoring of the mission.
  • To ensure the quality and appropriateness of the definition and implementation of a possible emergency intervention.

PROFILE

  • University Degree (Master appreciated) in Agronomist / Rural Development Studies or an socio economist with additionally development studies (Rural and/or local Development desirable, livestock knowledge appreciated).
  • Knowledge in Project Cycle Management tools & knowledge in donors process.
  • Skills in Human resource management are required.
  • Training skills and working experience with local partners is compulsory.
  • Understanding of issues pertaining to decentralized governance and livelihoods.
  • Good analytical skills and a good understanding of the problematic of developing countries.
  • High capacity to capitalize and transmit lessons learnt.
  • Knowledge of GIS, data base and alert system appreciated.
  • Other skills and specific knowledge required: participatory approach, good communication (oral and written), good capacity of making and strengthen interpersonal relationship.
  • 5 years of work experience in technical cooperation in international institutions and/or NGOs.
  • Previous experience in Africa (in Angola appreciated).
  • A good degree of maturity and responsibility is indispensable for this post.
  • A high adaptability regarding living conditions (where and with whom) due to frequent travels to different bases.
  • Capacity of working under stressed conditions and in multicultural environments.
  • Autonomy in decision making.
  • Mastering English-Spanish / French-Spanish / English-French.

WE OFFER

  • House and maintenance cover by the organization.
  • Travel costs to and from the mission.
  • Formal contract of work.
  • Salary: from 1500€ to 2350 € gross per month according to candidate’s previous experience + responsibility plus (according to standard list of ACF – Spain).
  • ACF- Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal.
  • Per Diems.
  • 25 working days of holidays per year.
  • Breaks (including travel cost to the reference zone, and 200 Euros to pass the week of break).
  • Travel and accident insurance and repatriation on account of the organization.
  • Extra per month and per child- Under 18 years old.

REQUIREMENTS

Interview in Madrid. Travel costs on account of candidate. (Reimbursement in case of successful candidature). For candidate who are not in Madrid the interview will first be by telephone.
