Oxfam’s Humanitarian Support Personnel (HSPs) enable Oxfam to boost existing staff capacity to ensure good quality response capacity in rapid onset emergencies and support to on-going humanitarian programming.

What you will do

By managing and coordinating humanitarian programmes, you will ensure Oxfam responds effectively and appropriately to a high standard. The post holder will be expected to undertake assessments, contextual analysis, develop programme proposals and contribute to advocacy and policy work. The role will represent Oxfam at field level liaising and consulting with crisis-affected people, community leaders, local authorities, the media and coordinate with other Aid agencies. In all programmes you will be expected to manage teams of national and international staff, undertake recruitment and ensure good management of finances, logistics and administration.

What you will need

With proven experience of humanitarian work in a number of different countries and an excellent understanding of humanitarian programming and policy issues, you will be a talented manager with great communication skills and ability to motivate team members. You will be confident in managing high-profile Oxfam programmes and will be keen to develop your own abilities not only in humanitarian management but also in advocacy, policy and longer term programming work. You will want to make a difference to the inequalities in the world.

The position is home based and you will be deployed from your home country. You must be prepared to travel at short notice for 9 months of the year in one or more countries (deployments are normally 3-6 months, but can be longer).
