Newcastle: £22,000 - £27,000

Use your quantitative skills to improve public services

The National Audit Office is the UK's leading public sector watchdog, reporting to Parliament on the handling of billions of pounds of taxpayers' money. We produce some 60 Value for Money (VFM) reports every year on the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of government funded initiatives - from helicopters to hospitals. We also produce other innovative products including guidance and good practice that are used by other organisations. Our recommendations and guidance lead directly to improvements in public services and you'll be at the heart of our work.

Keeping an eye on taxpayers' money takes rigorous research. Working as part of our VFM audit team, which may include qualified accountants and sector specialists, you will help produce high quality reports on time and on budget. Our work frequently hits the headlines and you'll be instrumental in saving the public millions of pounds.

The credibility of our work depends on the high standard of analysis. That's why you will be qualified at least to Masters degree-level in a numerate discipline such as economics, statistics, operational research, social research or performance measurement. What's more you'll be ready to work as part of a team, on all sorts of different study topics and audit work.
