DundeeWealth Economics is seeking a Senior Economist for our Toronto, Head Office to represent the company in presentations to other staff and clients. In order to facilitate this the individual is expected to take on the responsibilities for some of the research, forecasts and reports identified below and keep in close contact with the other members of DundeeWealth Economics team based in British Columbia.

Responsibilities:

- Work closely with DundeeWealth Economics Team and represent the firm in public in the absence of the Chief Economist;
- Act as a representative of the Chief Economist to internal and external clients as required;
- Assist in preparing and publishing the following reports:

o Quarterly Economic and Financial Outlook

o Monthly Scenario Updates for interest and foreign exchange rates

o Monthly Dundee Economic Monitor

o Weekly Financial Monitor

o Occasional articles and long-term scenarios for the equity markets, commodities, exchange rates and interest rates

· Present to large audiences and create/update marketing material for the Chief Economist, in support of business units;

· Respond to enquiries from clients and assist in work of DundeeWealth’s other business groups. Such activities include:

o Specialized reports

o A monthly chart/commentary package on the economy

o Comments on Dundee’s fixed income strategy

o Comments on client/Dundee asset allocation

· Keep up-to-date with press, magazine and professional articles on topics of current concern, and maintain a library of such.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Econometrics or Economics;
  • Minimum 7-10 years of economics experience;
  • Deep understanding of macroeconomic principals;
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills along with the ability to present charismatically to diverse populations;
  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills;
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills to distill relevant information from diverse economic indicators;
  • Demonstrated self-direction, judgment, discretion and initiative;
  • Ability to work independently as well as perform effectively in a team-oriented environment;
  • Ability to travel extensively for presentations across Canada and US;
  • Knowledge of E-Views software or other Econometrics program a definite asset;
  • Knowledge of financial services industry would be an asset; and
  • Successful completion of CFA an asset;
