Job Title: Application Database Developer
Grade: P1

- Job purpose:
As adatabase developer, the candidate must be able to work in a medium-sized toenterprise-scale organization and use powerful database management and dataanalysis tools. The Candidates role is to design, develop, and implementcomplex database systems, tools, and applications. His/her specialty might bewriting queries and stored procedures, using data modeling tools, designing andoptimizing databases, or implementing at the physical level. Candidate musthave a thorough understanding of relational databases.
Thecandidate must also be able to do designing, planning, evaluating, anddeveloping n-tier solutions that target both Web and client user experiences.Responsibilities of the developer also include the development ofline-of-business applications and their underlying databases.
3. Major duties andresponsibilities:
· Design, program, writequeries and implement databases
· Troubleshoot programmingobjects
· Tune and optimize databaseperformance
· Design and troubleshoot thedata access layer of an application
· Gather businessrequirements
· Design and plan BIsolutions
· Debug, monitor, andtroubleshoot BI solutions
· Write relational andmultidimensional database queries
· Create and deploy reports
· Configure, deploy, andmaintain database servers
· Deploy, build, and optimizeapplications
· Develop middle-tier data orbusiness logic components
· Envision and designapplication logic
· Evaluate and specifyappropriate technology
· Build distributed systems
· Design applicationintegration test plans
- Qualifications and Work Experience Required:
· Candidates must have at least a universitydegree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics orrelated field.
· A minimum of 1 to 2 years progressiveprofessional experience in the field of ICT is required, in informationtechnology, system development and database management.
5. OtherRelevant Skills Required:
- Developmentof procedures and Computerized System design and implementation skills;
- Excellentinterpersonal, report writing and communication skills;
- Excellentcomputer skills with practical knowledge of and experience in accountingsoftwares
6. LanguageRequirement:
Proficiency in one of the AfricanUnion working languages is a requirement; Knowledge of one or more of the otherAU working languages would be an added advantage.
- Age requirement:
Candidatesmust preferably be between 25 and 35 years old.
