Gender Advisor, Jordan
We are currently seeking Gender Advisor candidates for an upcoming five-year USAID-funded project in Amman, Jordan, focused on building industry competitiveness, improving the business policy environment, developing the workforce, and improving access to finance for the ICT, biotech, and clean-technology sectors. The position is contingent upon ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with program management and personnel to integrate gender throughout the program cycle and program operations.
- Oversee and coordinate all gender-related activities of the project.
- Oversee a project analysis of gender relations, issues and constraints at the productive, reproductive and community levels.
- Lead the development of a project gender strategy and integration plan with recommendations on integrating gender into the program design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, organizational structure and operations.
- Ensure that grants awarded under the project’s Competitiveness Partnership Fund promote gender equality and equity.
- Assess gender dynamics in the targeted clusters and value chains and work on addressing barriers to improving the participation of men and women.
- Assess current labor policies and identify constraints impacting workforce development and employment.
- Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of reports, success stories and other documents to USAID, the government of Jordan, ACDI/VOCA headquarters and other partner organizations.
- Assist in the development of operational manuals to ensure gender equity and sensitivity in manual content and presentation.
- Prepare and conduct trainings on gender and monitoring and evaluation topics for staff and beneficiaries.
- Provide technical assistance to ACDI/VOCA staff members and partner organization staff in the use and management of monitoring and impact assessment tools as they pertain to gender issues and concerns.
- Collaborate with local women’s groups, gender-focused organizations and institutions, and other local or international groups that are implementing similar gender-related activities.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in relevant technical field (e.g., sociology, communications, advocacy in business and economic-growth sectors, etc.) and at least five years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field with eight years of experience.
- Relevant experience in providing leadership and managing highly complex technical interventions.
- Extensive work experience in the MENA region, ideally in Jordan.
- Strong writing and oral presentation skills.
- Excellent English is required and Arabic is desirable.
