The role The Head of Logistics in Save the Children will be accountable for establishing world class standard logistics operations globally and realising significant cost savings for the organisation.

Specifically, the Head of Logistics will be responsible for the development, support and implementation of global policies, strategies and controls in the area of logistics including procurement; will ensure that Save the Children International (SCI), globally, regionally and at country level have appropriate logistics strategies, tools and systems to manage resources and assets efficiently and effectively in order to deliver high quality programmes on time and budget; will build logistics and operational capacity across SCI in close cooperation with Members, and SCI Regional and Country Offices.

Required skills and experience • Extensive experience at both global and field level in managing logistics for INGOs in international development and emergency programmes • Solid experience in management of international supply chains including procurement and shipping • Knowledge of key institutional donors and their compliance requirements in respect of logistics and procurement • Track record in developing and implementing logistics strategies for programme delivery. • Experience in developing and implementing organisational vision and strategies • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a matrix management environment. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
• Solid project management skills related to organisational development projects and international, cross-functional teams with a proven history of delivering results. • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in. • Commitment to Save the Children values. • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time
