Profession: bilingual French/English assistant

Your task

Following a several-month training period at ICRC headquarters in Geneva, your role will be to provide support for the secretariat of one of our delegations in the field by using your organizational skills, your expertise in information management and processing, your familiarity with the internal office tools, and your ability to train other staff members in these areas.

In supporting the team, your duties will include:

  • handling, processing and organizing the flow of documents and information (including paper and electronic correspondence)
  • ensuring a coherent flow of information
  • assisting the delegation's decision-makers (maintaining the appointments calendar, preparing for meetings and drafting minutes at meetings)
  • providing support for the delegation's staff in the use of office tools, information management and electronic filing
  • training and/or managing small teams of national employees attached to the secretariat

Selection requirements

  • ideal age: 25 to 35
  • willing to complete the first two field postings (approximately 12 months each) unaccompanied by spouse, partner or dependants
  • very good command of English and French (excellent spelling skills and an ability to draft texts in both languages)
  • secretarial diploma (as an executive assistant, medical secretary, etc.) or commercial diploma or equivalent
  • three to four years’ professional experience in a similar position
  • familiarity with commonly-used computer software (ECDL Start or equivalent certification required)
  • driving licence (for manual transmission vehicles)
