ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING:

The Reports Developer position is located at Headquarters within the Management Information Services (MIS) Branch, Division of Management Services (DMS).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Chief, MIS Branch and direct supervision of the Chief, Business Support Section, the Reports Developer builds Cognos models and reports and participates in the establishment of the overall technical data architecture for UNFPA’s business intelligence. The incumbent’s specific duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Collection and documentation of user requirements. • Development of Cognos Models and Cognos Reports, with PeopleSoft as the primary source system. • Logical and physical data modeling, working closely with application developers, reports developers and clients. • Creation of project plans, test plans and documentation for data models and reports. • Participate in the development, publishing, and promotion of standards for creation and management of data models, reports and analytics. • Establish and promote guidelines for shared data extracts to be used in application development, to ensure the integration of new and existing application data into UNFPA data marts. • Together with the Chief, Business Support Section, consult with leadership to ensure that technical and business solutions fit within the overall goals and objectives established in the technical strategy. • Assist in the selection of capabilities and systems to meet future business information needs. • Provide support for existing models and reports.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Advanced university degree in IT, Science, Engineering or Business Administration. A first level university degree combined with professional IT certifications may be acceptable in lieu of the advanced university degree. • 5 years of relevant experience with an emphasis on business intelligence, data warehousing and data modeling. • Experience with Cognos a must, with Oracle and PeopleSoft databases and applications a plus. • Demonstrated knowledge of project management, ability to clearly document designs and standards. • Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset.
