ECOS, the European Environmental Citizens' Organisation for Standardisation, is looking for a new Secretary General to lead the Brussels office.

ECOS is an umbrella organisation of Environmental NGOs created to give a voice to the environment in standardisation and policy implementation, such as under the EU’s Ecodesign directive. ECOS currently represents 25 member organisations, European umbrella bodies or national organisations active in environmental protection. The Secretary General (SG) is responsible for the strategic development and day-to-day management of ECOS within guidelines agreed by the General Assembly and under the supervision of the Executive Committee.

The SG represents ECOS and its members mainly in the European standardisation bodies, EU institutions and other organisations.

The ECOS secretariat, managed by the SG, assists ECOS’ member organisations and their experts to co-ordinate their input into national and European standardisation work and the Ecodesign process at all levels by providing technical advice on specific environmental issues.

This is a full-time position and with a proposed starting date of spring 2012.
