Description

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization that engages leaders from business, politics, academia and civil society in joint efforts to improve the state of the world. Founded in 1971, it is a not-for-profit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland; it is tied to no political, partisan or national interests.
The World Economic Forum today has over 400 employees from more than 55 nations, with offices in Geneva, New York, Beijing and Tokyo.
Over two-thirds of the Forum’s employees have a Master’s degree or higher. In cooperation with leading universities worldwide, the Forum has its own academic graduate and PhD programmes.
The World Economic Forum is active in four main areas that complement and support one another:

Building and maintaining global communities of decision-makers in specific fields – the Forum currently manages over 30 such communities of business, political, academic and civil society leaders.

Promoting dialogue within and between these communities through its global Annual Meetings in Switzerland (Davos), China and the United Arab Emirates, as well as regional summits, industry-specific meetings and workshops on specific issues.

Providing strategic insights to support its communities to respond better and in more proactive, integrated ways to global challenges.

Integrating all communities in joint initiatives, task forces and research projects to solve specific problems – the Forum and its communities currently undertake over 50 such initiatives, mainly in the form of public-private partnerships. In doing so, the Forum works together closely with different international organizations and governments.
