ADB - Social Development Specialist (Labor and Employment)
ADB seeks qualified professionals to fill this vacancy in its Regional and Sustainable Development Department (RSDD), Poverty Reduction, Gender, and Social Development Division (RSGS):
Job Purpose:
Promote and facilitate the implementation of the employment and labor aspects of ADB policies, strategies guidelines, and operational plans (e.g., in the Education Sector and Social Protection). Monitor, analyze and report on labor market trends and issues in developing Asia and the Pacific. Support ADB’s overarching goal of poverty reduction and strategic agenda of inclusive growth through operational support and knowledge generation/sharing on job creation, skills development, and social protection. Serve as focal point for engagement with external organizations on labor matters, including the ILO and trade unions. Work with broad policies and objectives, collaborating directly with clients, with supervision for critical tasks.

The position reports to: Director, RSGS
The following staff positions report to the Social Development Specialist: National Staff and Administrative Staff
Relevant Experience and Other Requirements:
Specific criteria include
• Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in development.
• Experience working in multilateral development agencies and/or inter-governmental organizations addressing labor issues is desirable.
• Possess strong analytical skills relevant to country analysis work and social/poverty analysis.
• Ability to prepare high-quality knowledge products relevant to strategy development and project design, implementation, and evaluation.
• Effective in communicating on strategic and policy issues with ADB staff at all levels and Management.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• International experience working in development in several countries, ideally including countries in developing Asia and the Pacific.
Education Requirements:
Master’s degree, or equivalent, in International Development, Labor Economics, Public Policy, Social Development, Sociology or related fields. University degree in International Development, Labor Economics, Public Policy, Social Development, Sociology or related fields, combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s, may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.
