Communications and Events Officer SMF

The Social Market Foundation is a cross-party public policy think tank based in the heart of Westminster.

We are looking for a creative, hard-working and motivated person to join our successful Communications team. This exciting role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work on across the broad range of the SMF’s important work.

The post-holder will support the organisation through external and internal communication and a public programme of events including fringe events at all three of the main political party conferences. They will work closely with the Head of Media and External Affairs and the Conference and Events Manager to build on the SMF’s excellent reputation for bold and innovative policy proposals and events.

This is a varied role, which will give the post-holder a broad range of experience - from liaising with journalists about a research report to booking high-profile speakers for events and running events at party conferences. The post-holder will be responsible for managing key events, such as our successful Chalk + Talk programme of academic talks, and will play a vital role in creating attractive and engaging visual and written communications to promote our work.

The post would suit someone who is organised, entrepreneurial, energetic and keen to learn. Applications are encouraged from people who are interested in developing a broad range of communications and events experience in a fun and fast-paced environment. Prior experience of similar work is welcomed but not essential.
