Parliamentary Relations Officer VSO
Do you think politics is about making compelling arguments and harnessing power to improve people’s lives? Do you have a passion for international development? Would you like to join an award winning Parliamentary Relations team?
As Parliamentary Officer in VSO UK’s External Affairs Department, you’ll develop and maintain strong relationships with MPs and Members of the House of Lords, as well as with your VSO colleagues overseas. You’ll bring the voices of poor and marginalised communities into Parliament, increasing public understanding of global poverty and making VSO’s campaigns a success. You’ll have responsibility for project managing VSO’s Parliamentarian Volunteering Scheme: a unique project which matches Parliamentarians with VSO partner organizations for short placements during recess.
You will have had experience of advocacy work before, in Westminster or elsewhere, and demonstrated the ability to build and cultivate great working relationships that deliver results. With your understanding of UK politics you’ll know exactly who to go to make things happen. With proven project management skills and extraordinary attention to detail, you’ll be able to manage our Parliamentarian Volunteering Scheme to an exceptionally high standard. Your international development experience will ensure you can manage the needs and expectations of MPs, Peers, VSO Programme Offices and partner organizations to deliver placements which actively contribute to poverty reduction in developing countries.
VSO values a diverse workforce and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.
