The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany) and the outstations are in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).
As in its other activities, EMBL strives to be a model for Scientific Administration. Within the Administration the Head of Kindergarten is responsible for the entire organisation of the childcare services at EMBL. We are looking for a childcare professional willing to take on a leading role in an international and intercultural academic environment.
While at work, EMBL employees need to be assured that their children are well taken care of. An important goal of the EMBL Kinderhaus is to help parents from all over the world who take up duty with as little impact as possible regarding the organisation of their family lives. It equally aims to support the children with the integration in a new and often foreign environment, to give them the possibility to learn according to their needs and to familiarise them with social contacts outside their families.
As a corporate daycare facility the EMBL childcare facility provides state-of-the-art services for up to 124 children from the ages 3 months up to 6 years in 10 groups ensuring that children find best conditions for a safe environment and development. The Kindergarten is open all year round and opening hours are from Monday to Thursday from 8.30 am to 6 pm, and on Friday until 5 pm.
To become a role model among comparable facilities we recently started a project with a focus on further conceptual development which is supported by an external consultant. The Head of Kindergarten will actively participate and be involved in the organisational and conceptual framework and furthermore be responsible to successfully achieve the target.
Particular emphasis is put on the following duties:
- Overall responsibility for the smooth running of the facility;
- Personnel Management of up to 40 staff;
- Regular administrative tasks;
- Close cooperation with other EMBL departments as well as external services.
We offer:
- Above-average salary conditions and benefits;
- Attractive working culture within an academic environment;
- Highly international and intercultural background with children, parents and colleagues;
- Close and friendly relationship with parents;
- Open-minded and flexible team with the willingness to support our clients;
- Option to bring in own children.
