Position of Locally recruited Field Technicians and Field Mechanics


The Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA), an international organization managed by CIMMYT (International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center) invites applications for the position of Field Technician (Nationally Recruited Staff). The incumbent would be responsible for day to day field operations. The incumbent shall also be responsible for operating the agricultural machinery for conducting field trials. The position is initially for a fixed term of 3 years subject to satisfactory completion of probation period (1 year) and subsequent renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of sufficient funds.

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

 Coordinate field operations in research trials on daily basis
 Supervise and maintain labor and stock books for research trials
 Help in quality seed production at BISA Farms
 Maintain duty rooster for labour, implement usage and works accomplished
 Assist in developing resource inventories for the BISA farm
 Help operate a good store for daily use and safety of the farm produce

Education / Experience:

 BSc Agriculture (For Field Technicians); High school and two year ITI/ATI Course in Fitter or Mechanic Trade (For Field Mechanics)
 At least 5 years of experience in conducting field trials; handling / maintenance of agricultural machines (new generation CA implements) and operating skills for machinery like combine harvesters
 Working knowledge of English and local regional languages at duty station

Job Location:

 At BISA sites in Ladhowal, Punjab; Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh and Pusa, Bihar

Emoluments:

 Salary is negotiable and based on qualification and experience (Please indicate your expectations)
