MindWorks Recruitment Sprl, based in Brussels, Belgium, is hiring an Associate Director, for EMEA Alliance Development. This is for an important American biotech corporation that treats rare orphan diseases. As part of the it's global expansion, we are looking for an Associate Director to be part of the Global Government Affairs (GGA) team and to be responsible for driving, building and enhancing alliances with national stakeholders, including patient advocates, physician groups, academics and rare/ultra-rare disease-oriented organizations in response to patient needs and in support of the global policy objectives and strategic goals. The AD will lead the effort to develop, implement, coordinate and communicate critical partnerships and programs throughout EMEA related to our commitment to the area of rare and ultra-rare disease. 

Specifically, the Associate Director, Alliance Development in close interaction with the local business leaders will identify and cultivate alliances, partnership opportunities and advocates, participate in meetings, proactively identify emerging issues, and effectively communicate the Corporate positions on relevant public health, economic, clinical, and political issues to key non-government stakeholders. The AD will work directly as part of the Global Government Affairs team to help in development and implementation of strategies to achieve the corporate policy and business objectives at the pan-European and country levels. By interacting closely with key non-government stakeholders, the AD will actively help position this company as a leading biotechnology company and progressive thought leader that can be a valuable resource for advocacy organizations and other major influencers of health care policy. The AD will work closely with EMEA Country and Regional Managers in support of local strategies and objectives, and will coordinate with critical internal partners, including Global Corporate Communications, Government Affairs, Pricing & Reimbursement, Regulatory and Legal. Successful candidates also will be responsible for regularly communicating alliance development activities to internal stakeholders, and to representing the company’s efforts externally. 

Job Responsibilities 

As a key member of the Global Government Affairs team, the EMEA AD, Alliance Development, is required to have a variety of skills and experience, and will be responsible for driving our efforts to establish strong relationships with key non-government stakeholders as well as advancing our advocacy efforts relating to the companies’ legislative/regulatory policy objectives with these stakeholders:
  • Identify and develop strong relationships with critical non-government stakeholders to advance common interests relating to rare/ultra-rare disease research and access; and collaborate on development of joint activities and events;
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with existing partners, including Eurordis and other country-level patient advocacy organizations;
  • Work closely with country and regional managers in support of local strategies and objectives in context of global priorities;
  • Prioritize tasks, and organize and manage multiple projects while maintaining an understanding of national and global perspectives;
  • Communicate and partner directly with internal customers and cross-functional teams;
  • Coordinate projects with external consultants as needed or appropriate;
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative and consistently deliver high-quality work products;
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with manager and senior management.
Qualifications 

A University degree is required; a post-graduate degree is strongly preferred. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years working with patient advocacy groups on EU Level and with National Associations; a proven track record of successful interactions with national advocates around health-related issues; knowledge of the legal and regulatory compliance impacting the pharma/bio industry, and most importantly, a passion for patients and research.

  • Communication: Excellent communications and presentation skills; and ability to write well and to present information to internal and external audiences in a clear and concise manner.
Logistics 

The position is located in the Brussels, Belgium office, and will report functionally to the Vice President of Global Government Affairs. International travel throughout EMEA is required.
The salary package is between € 80K - 90K + car and bonus.
