About COWI acousticsCOWI employ more than 45 acoustic advisors in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The Norwegian contingency is 22 persons. The Norway South team, based in Oslo consists of 13 advisors, 5 of which have foreign languages as their mother tongue (English, German, Swedish, Arabic, Spanish and Dutch).
The COWI project base stretches from vibrations and environmental noise through building acoustics and room acoustics to electro acoustics (sound, audio and visual). Our projects originate from the other disciplines where COWI provide advice; and from the departments own marketing activities.
About the positionAs a part of an increased focus on technical management and excellence for all disciplines COWI is searching for a 'Chief Specialist Acoustics, Noise and Vibrations' (no: FAGLIG LEDER) for its Norwegian operation.
The Chief Specialist will lead an appointed discipline network of consultants and be responsible for planning and execution of activities aimed at increasing the competencies of COWI consultants within the discipline and provide support to consultants with technically challenging projects; as well as ensuring that COWI satisfy the Norwegian rules and regulations as appropriate for consultancy companies. The Chief Specialist will also participate in assigned projects as discipline leader as well as developing an individual portfolio of customers such as architects and building contractors and mentor junior advisors.
The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in architectural acoustics, noise and vibrations, minimum MSc level. The academic background must be coupled with an extensive experience base of applying theory to practice in actual projects, minimum 8 years and should preferably be augmented by a PhD degree within a planned horizon.
Project deliverables will be in the Norwegian language. Lack of this ability can be compensated through training, but the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to achieve that target. Initial internal communication and your application may be in Swedish, Danish or English.
Geographical and organisational location is within the acoustic section in Oslo. The position does not include any personnel management or line management.
