Intellectual Property (IP) Officer
Research and Enterprise Support is the dynamic, commercially orientated interface between the University of Surrey and business and an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intellectual Property (IP) Officer to join the very successful Technology Transfer team.
The successful applicant will have responsibility for ensuring that all intellectual property related deadlines are properly registered and monitored via the University's database and will be required to evaluate Invention Disclosures resulting in a decision on patentability. The post holder will also be required to maintain and contribute to websites and to the marketing of university technologies. You will work with minimal day-to-day supervision and be expected to show sound judgement and strong initiative. Although the post holder does not have full line management responsibility, they are required to instruct and supervise the Research Development Administrator in the financial administration for the Technology Transfer office.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent qualification, with relevant experience or, have broad vocational experience, acquired through a combination of job-related vocational training and considerable on-the-job experience.
An understanding of IP and the patenting process plus good IT skills are essential for this role, as well as meticulous attention to detail. Experience/knowledge of managing databases and of managing websites and use of social media for marketing would be highly desirable skills.
In return we can offer a generous annual leave entitlement, childcare assistance, and discounted membership to the Surrey Sports Park.
