Post-doctoral Training Fellow - Cancer Bioinformatics

Description
We seek a motivated Post-doctoral Training Fellow to work on an exciting project of integrating large-scale data generated from the new Tumour Profiling Unit at ICR in collaboration with Prof Alan Ashworth. The goal is to dissect cancer heterogeneity by comparing pre- and post-treatment deep next generation DNA sequence, proteomic, and histopathological image data from primary cancers and multiple metastases. Our lab bridges statistical analysis and cancer biology and pathology and aims to foster new developments in statistics through close interactions among diverse research fields. In particular, we have developed image processing tools for histopathological and immunohistochemical images to turn these well characterized observations into quantitative measurements (Yuan et al. Sci Trans Med 2012).

The successful post holder will enjoy working in the interdisciplinary fields and collaborating with other groups at ICR. The post holder will also excel in coordinating between programming and exploring new research areas through these collaborations, be a fast learner and have interests in different scientific subjects and research areas.

Applicants must hold a PhD in quantitative sciences such as Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Statistics, have extensive experience in statistical data analysis, and less than 5 years postdoctoral experiences. Knowledge in sequencing data analysis is desirable.

Appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for 3 years, with a starting salary in the range of £28,087 to £36,953 p.a. inclusive, depending on experience. There is potential to progress on the salary scale up to £38,990 p.a. inclusive. The successful candidate will be based in Chelsea, London.
